With Windows 10, developing for Windows platform might be very rewarding to app developers, the Windows 10 team are working to make Windows 10 a unified, developer platform for all Windows devices so as a developer, you can reach the greatest number of customers with your apps across phones, tablet, PCs, Xbox, IoT (Internet of Things), Surface hub and the world's first hologrphic computing platform; Microsoft Hololens. And the new Microsoft Personal Assistant, hmmm, you will create apps that uses the Cortana feature, touch, video, audio and holograms in ways you only see in movies and in your dream.
I do not know what you think but for me, I think it will be an honor developing for the next generation devices. One thing we must all understand about Microsoft is that these guys are in business and investing in their products has always paid off, if you can purchase a license of Visual Studio, and make a good app with it, believe me you will be getting your money back in no time. With Microsoft development tools, you only worry about what you are building and not wasting valuable work force in troubleshooting and debugging your development tools. The Windows app store gives your app a marketing value and I also beleive this is where someone can pay a thousand dollar for your app, all it takes is to make a very useful program that your users will love. And the business models used for monetizing apps in this store are superb.
Microsoft has created a real market place for we developers, a market where apps undergo thorough test before getting published, a market where users can pay for apps with full trust. And the most interesting part is that you use the same skills and programming language you use in developing for Windows to deliver solutions to iOS and Android platforms using tools like Xamarin, Apacha Cordova all in one IDE (Integrated Development Environment). All you need is to get a PC purchase a copy of Visual Studio and start developing high quality apps for your platform of choice.
With all these new technologies Microsoft is releasing, this is the best time to develop for Windows. My only regret is that I started late.
Comments please!
